Rose Mary’s Thyme Mural was a commission during his years at the masters program at George Washington University in year 2000. Paintings can be seen at the restaurant 18th & S st. NW in Washington, DC. Acrylic paint on wood panels.

Gauguin Mural was made in Istanbul in 1996. 35 feet mural became a part of the casino reception of The Princess Hotels in Maslak, Istanbul. Sadly later on it was destroyed by the new owners of the property. Acrylic paint on wood panels.

Sea House Mural was made in a restaurant named Sea House Kuruçeşme in Istanbul, 1997. Just like the Gauguin mural, it was commissioned by an architecture team which was being led by a great figure Yavuz Hallaçoğlu.

1959 Album, Giant Steps was made in Sport House Cafe in Istanbul, 1996.
This stage mural was inspired by John Coltrane’s 1959 album, “Giant Steps” which was a strong musical influence during the time. Murat signed this work with his all time favorite student assistant Serdar Seven. sadly later on it was destroyed by the new owners of the property. Painted with acrylics on sliding wood panels.

Salvation Army Wall Print is in Manassas Virginia and was made in 2009. This mural project was a part of the architectural development conducted by BIGWAHA architects. Illustration was hand sketched on photoshop layers of old Salvation Army photographs. Final illustration is printed on a wall paper to cover the back wall of the Manassas location.

Giant Steps Erdemsel 22 Installation was made in Istanbul in 1997 and then again was destroyed by the new owners of the property. Three dimensional mixed media installation was completed in 11 months. Background surface is aluminum laminate. Sport figures are custom cut wood panels that are super positioned in third dimension. Soccer t-shirt, soccer ball, football helmet and a tennis racquet were used on the collage. Acrylics, synthetic spray and custom cut vinyl stickers are the mediums used on wood and aluminum laminate surfaces.

Ford Illustrations are pencil sketches on paper inspired by the 6 classic Ford models. These drawings were then processed digitally for the final art work to be printed on blue tilted glass.

SALVATION ARMY artwork was commissioned by BIGWAHA architects for a mural project at the Manassas location. Illustration was hand sketched on photoshop layers of old Salvation Army photographs. Final illustration is printed on a wall paper to cover the back wall of the Manassas location.

MUSIC PAINTINGS

CONCEPT
The most recent works Murat has done are somewhat educational artworks made for tango dancers which he calls them music paintings. This section introduces the concept, displays interviews and presents his lecture called “Visualization of Tango Music”. You may be able to attend one of these lectures at the major tango festivals where he shows artworks, animations and speaks about them.

The majority of these paintings were featured in exhibitions and have been sold to private collectors. A few, however, are still available. Most are acrylic on canvas, some are oil.

Acrylics and oil on canvas or paper. These are the atelier works from both Istanbul Fine Arts Academy (MSU) and the George Washington University Masters Program. Some are in archive, some are on display in private collections.

Illustration was hand sketched on paper inspired by the 6 classic Ford models. Final illustration was printed on blue tilted glass and being display on the back wall of the interior.

Some of these sketches were requested by NOA Architects for 3 Brothers Restaurant in Silver Spring. Most of these ideas were not applied during the renovation of the interior design.
There are also sketches here for Rose Mary’s Thyme Bistro which were made during the creation of the restaurant’s NW location. A serious number of paintings made for this restaurant as murals.

MURALS, Classic
46 images 1996 to 2003

Alexandria Old Town Photo Mural is in Salvation Army Alexandria, Virginia and was completed in 2012. This mural project also was a part of the architectural development conducted by BIGWAHA architects. Entire image is made on photoshop and composed of panoramic photographs taken by Murat Erdemsel. Many of the buildings that simulates the scene from Old Town of Alexandria, were individually stitched multiple images, including the America’s narrowest brick house. Sailboats were photographed in Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles.
